If you missed the Live Video Chat with Assistant Dean of MBA Admissions Sara Neher yesterday, you have the opportunity to replay a video of the chat. Sara answered a wide variety of questions regarding the application, the admissions process, life at Darden and Charlottesville, academics and the case method, MBA career placement, international student experiences and more.

Watch a video replay of the entire chat here.

Here are a few application-focused excerpts from the chat:

Question: When will Round 1 applicants be notified if they are invited to interview with Darden?

Answer: We do rolling interview invitations beginning 1 November continuing through the middle of December. This is a random process, so the order of invitations does not reflect the quality of each applicant.

Question: Can recommenders submit recommendations after the deadline?

Answer: Yes; however, you still need to get your application and application fee paid before the deadline to be considered. We just won’t read your application until all recommendations have been received, so make sure you get your recommendation in as soon as you can. If time comes for decisions to be released and we still have not received your recommendation, we will move your application to the next round.

Question: One of my recommenders would like to update his recommendation, but it has already been submitted. Can he still update it?

Answer: Yes. If you would like to update your application, please e-mail darden@virginia.edu. We will make sure this is included in your application file.

Question: Where is the best place to highlight leadership experience?

Answer: If this is something your recommender can attest to, we’d like to see examples of this in your recommendation. Other good places to highlight leadership experience is in the essay, the résumé and within the undergraduate education section.

Question: How strict are you on the essay word counts?

Answer: We are very strict because our system does not let you go over the word count limit. As you finalize your essay, make sure you have enough time to check it within the application because the Microsoft Word count function is not always 100 percent accurate.
