With just a couple of days left before our Round 1 application deadline on Thursday, October 3, here is a list of my last minute tips to help you feel confident about hitting the submit button on your application.

1) Breathe. No, seriously! You’ve put in the biggest effort on the front end already, and all that remains are the little things – things that do not make or break applications.

2) Proofread. Often it’s the smallest details that are the easiest to overlook, especially when you have been reviewing your own work so closely. A good strategy is to have a trusted friend with an eye for detail read through your entire application – essays and all the data points.  Small errors aren’t the end of the world, but more than a couple definitely won’t leave the lasting impression you’d hope for.

3) Trust your instincts. You have likely received an overwhelming amount of differing opinions and advice on application strategies, which might lead to a bit of second-guessing in the final hours. You know yourself best, so clear out the noise and listen to your own instincts.

4) Tie up loose ends. Make sure to go through all of the pages of the application and confirm that you have done everything that is needed.  If you haven’t yet submitted your official GMAT scores to Booth, go ahead and get that off your plate (our school code is H9X-9F-34).  If your recommenders have not yet submitted their letters, send them a gentle reminder today. We give recommenders 7 days past the application deadline to submit. Since this is a firm deadline, urge them to have their letters submitted as soon as possible.

5) Ask questions. If you still aren’t sure about something in the application or online system, now is the time to ask. You can reach us at or 773.702.7369.

6) Submit on time! The deadline for submission is Thursday, October 3rd at 5pm Central Daylight Time (CDT). Leave yourself plenty of time to review your application and feel confident before hitting that submit button.

In the words of coaches everywhere – you’ve got this! Good luck this week as you put the finishing touches on your applications.

All the best,
