You’ve heard from our staff about the opportunities the Summer Business Scholars Program (SBSP) provides undergrads and recent graduates looking for an impactful and memorable summer. Now is your chance to hear directly from SBSP scholars about what the program did for them, and why they think you should apply for the first round deadline on February 11.

1. You’ll build an incredible network.

“In order to build a real network, one has to know others on a personal level and that is exactly what SBSP provides. I can easily say that my SBSP peers were the most amazing fifty seven people I have met in my life. Each has their own character that brought in something new and different to the mix.” – Ali

2. You’ll have access to a city of endless possibilities.

“The city of Chicago is unlike any other. My free time consisted of a variety of activities from architectural boat tours around the city to seeing Jay-Z & Beyonce live at Soldier Field. I also had the opportunity to go to my first baseball game courtesy of the Chicago Cubs which was truly an amazing experience. Don’t forget to try the food!” – Leon

3. You’ll gain personal and professional insights.

“While I have already made some discoveries about myself prior to joining the program, SBSP really put my awareness in an MBA context. I especially enjoyed hearing stories of others and their path toward an MBA and thereafter, because those are the things you can’t find in a textbook or online.” – Akilah

4. You’ll be more prepared for what comes next.

“I do not think that I can speak enough about the upper hand that a Summer Business Scholar has when interviewing. Not only do employers see that you have completed rigorous coursework at a top business school, but your interviewer/future employer will also be impressed from the skills that you’ve built from it.” – Colin

5. You’ll visit top companies.

“We visited startups, corporate offices, consultancies and non-profits. We got to hear from the Deputy Mayor of Chicago at City Hall, visit the headquarters of GrubHub, participate in a group case study at BCG and enjoy a Chicago Cubs baseball game in the final week, after also having met the owner of the team! The great link between all these company visits was that they all involved meeting inspiring Booth alumni.” – Paula

 6. You’ll expand your perspective in the classroom and beyond.

“Our weekday schedule was packed with some great sessions outside of academic classes and corporate visits. Some of these included dining etiquette, negotiations, an improv session, and a talk from a Booth entrepreneur.” – Arpit

 7. You’ll get a glimpse into the life of a Full-Time MBA student.

“After attending SBSP, I have a clear understanding that an MBA is not only the courses you take, but also the global network you build, the on-going challenging environment you are exposed to, the extraordinary qualities of professors you learn from and the array of extra-curricular activities you can choose from.”  – Ana Sofia

There you have it! — Seven solid reasons to try something new and discover what a business education can mean for your future. And of course, meet new friends along the way while living in an amazing city. Our graduates would agree and now is the time to apply. The next deadline is right around the corner!

We’re very excited to build the new class of Summer Business Scholars for 2015. If you are considering applying to SBSP, don’t hesitate to reach me or comment below with questions!

All the best,
Glenn
